Cortoss - Bone Augmentation Material - Product Description
Cortoss®* is a high strength, bonding, self-setting composite which has been engineered
specifically to mimic the characteristics of human cortical bone. Cortoss is intended for use in the
treatment of compression fractures of vertebral bodies and in orthopaedic procedures where bone screws
of fixation devices cannot be sufficiently tightened or have stripped and lost purchase.
Its patented formulation and unique blend of clinical advantages make Cortoss® the ideal
biomaterial solution when the clinical challenge involves a load-bearing bone defect. In fact, no other
available bone void filler can offer all of these significant benefits:
- "Mix-on-demand" simplicity in a pre-filled, unit dose disposable cartridge
- Mechanical Strength comparable to human cortical bone, and the capacity for immediate functional load-bearing
- Provides two stages of fixation through effective interdigitation and bonding to host bone
- Radiopacity - inherent radiopacity, optimal fluoroscopic imaging as used in minimal invasive procedures
- Low exotherm - reduces the potential for tissue necrosis
- No monomer release - reduces the risk of hypotensive response
- Cortoss® is approved for sale in Europe under the CE Mark, and also approved in Australia.
*Cortoss has received a CE mark for commercial use in Europe and is currently under investigation in the US via an IDE clinical trial and is not yet approved for use.
